Just found this story from Brantford newspaper:
The 2009 Brantford air show is cleared for takeoff Sept. 2.
The Rotary Club of Brantford has signed on to sponsor the annual event, taking over from the Brant United Way.
The 10th anniversary event has been renamed the Rotary Brantford Charity Air Show.
Under the terms of a sponsorship agreement, ratified by the service club's membership, Rotary has pledged to donate 50% of the net proceeds to the United Way. The money will be specifically for the use of one of its member agencies, the Brantford Boys' and Girls' Club, which Rotary supports.
"We are really pleased about this arrangement. It's an excellent fit for us," Gary Surette, spokesman for the organizing committee, said in an interview.
"We and the Rotary both approach things in a businesslike way. We have created one of the best air shows in all of Canada in our time with the United Way, and I believe with the Rotarians we can take it to the next level."
Surette confirmed that feature acts this year will include the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the CF-18 Hornet demo team, the precision parachute Skyhawks squad and about three hours of heritage and fighter jet acts from the Canadian and U. S. air forces.
"This is a great day for Brant, the organizing committee and Rotary," John McGraw, the Rotary Club's incoming president, said in a news release.
"Rotary is a community builder and a charity fundraiser. The opportunity to work with the organizers to take the show to a new level, while fundraising money for needy kids in Brant, is show was a "tremendous success" as the United Way campaign's annual kickoff for nine years.
"Our board could not be happier to see the event continue with Rotary, and we know it will be a great success."
