The tradition continues in 2009 with an AMAZING looking show!

September 5-7

Blue Angels
Snowbirds
CF-18 (Not confirmed, but I assume it will attend)

Boy they might need to expand that 3 hour time slot! I wouldn't mind!

Dan, Dan, Dan - Lima Lima is NOT confirmed anywhere...Toronto will get the CHA Harvards as they are our 'local' talent.

Don't get caught up in the misinterpretations of others

It looks like Ontario will be abuzz with aviation this coming year - I am super excited!!!!

Adrian,

My bad. Someone else I believe reported Lima Lima was performing. When I checked their schedule they did list Toronto in italics, and now have since updated the Lima Lima schedule again, and now Toronto is not listed on there.

Too much egg nog I guess! ;)

LOL! No worries, it happens EVERY year with speculation about one airshow or another :)

Toronto should be pretty big this year as it's competing with only 2 other airshows on the same weekend. Look for the F-22 to be on the other side of the lake, though, as Cleveland is 2 years overdue...I'm hoping for the 15E, but, with 4 East Demo Teams busy that w/e, we may be lucky enough to snag a West Team as well :)

I'm curious to see if Cleveland will get the F-22, because the Thunderbirds are currently scheduled there. Not saying they don't deserve the Raptor, and that they are not overdue, but with the Thunderbirds already scheduled, you would think the ACC would not schedule the Raptor at Cleveland because the ACC wants to "spread the wealth".

Like I said. I don't know what to expect once the ACC schedules are released. I'd be thrilled if Toronto were to snag 2 ACC teams, no matter what they are! :)

LOL! It seems I'm making my mark on these boards. I don't know if that's a good thing or not!

I think the guys in Cleveland will freak if they don't get the 22 - even with the Tbirds in their schedule. I'd laugh my a$$ off if Toronto got it again, but, it's highly unlikely...

It just really depends on who's active that weekend and which teams have it off.

wow I must say I am a little shocked CIAS got 2 ACC demos when there are a number of major shows in canada that got zero. ie: Bagotville, Cold Lake, Windsor, St Thomas, Nova Scotia, Saskatoon, Ottawa, Trenton. and one show gets 2. very shocking. good for CIAS but for ACC to do that when they have cut the canadian shows way back is very very shocking.

Just my 2 cents.

Don't forget, CIAS brings in the 'numbers'. As a THREE day airshow it boasts mid to high 6 figure digits when it comes to the amount of spectators. It is, figuratively speaking, the 'largest' airshow in Canada and being so, as well as the 100th Anniversary of flight, ACC wanted to put all their fish in the bucket!

I think Viper East must own a house in Toronto having been here 4 of the last 5 years (including 2009), haha! Bring on Zeke and his Raptor!!!

Stellar lineup! Can't wait to hit the waterfront :)

Mike - I do agree that there can definitely be a 'spreading of the wealth'. It's surprising that none of the BASE (Trenton/ Bagotville/ Cold Lake) shows got a demo more than anything.

Just to add my 2 cents to these thoughts...because I usually am a queit person.

Not to take anything from a fantastic show and premier show in Canada.
I do not believe that Toronto's airshow has 150K crowd. The number of spectators for the show are based on all admissions to the CNE for the day. I have been a fan and spectator for that last 35 years and I have never seen a crown anywhere near that big. Another problem with the show is no Public Relations for the pilots. The crowd doesn't get to mingle with the crews by their aircraft and talk shop.

I guess the reason for the post is this...just because a city's population is the biggest in Canada should not mean it is the only show to get big support.
For example: Dayton Ohio is a realativley small city in the US but gets very big support...Oceana is in a very small city however it has a base and gets massive crowds. Rhode Island is again a very small city big support.

It is very hard for a show in Canada to get the draw spectators from other cities and the US without support from the big demos. London had a very good reputation and it took year's to build because of the level of support rec'd from the USAF, USN, CF's etc. which is turn made it one of, if not the biggest show in Canada.

Abbottsford is a prime example. Small City...draws from a big city due to the level of support....

Anyways, I went on to long. This post is for SWOAB only...no reposting.
