Just a heads up on our official grand opening. Haven't got all the details yet, but they will be finalized shortly. Here's what I know so far.

It will be held on Saturday, September 12th, at the museum location at London Airport. Times are not finalized yet, but I would expect something like 1000 to 1600. This is free to the public, though there will be a charge for lunch. We will also be selling merchandise and memberships, of course.

We hopefully will have all 6 of our T-Birds there, as the other 3 are scheduled to come in the week before that. We will also have a few visitors, which so far include a Fouga Magister, L-29, Harvard(s), and hopefully a few more. This is a static show, so no flying.

We are getting a tremendous amount of help and support from airport manager Steve Baker, which is very much appreciated.

I will update this as I hear more details. Should be a good time. Hopefully everyone can make it out.

Paul

It's a beauty David, sent it to work so my boss can print it out on his color printer and pin some up at work. Looks like I get to do parking for the event. someone has to do it. :)

Yeah to bad about the parking. Hopefully you won't have to be out there too long or can rotate with people so you can join me and Paul at the merch and membership table for a bit!

Good news. The other 3 T-Birds were given clearance to fly yesterday, so they will be arriving on September 8th, possibly all 3 together, once another pilot gets his check ride before they depart Mountainview. Should be quite a sight!

Got a call from BOB-FM this morning. They are going to do a remote broadcast from the JAM hanger on Saturday from 1000 to 1100. They will also be advertising the open house all week on "Watcha Doin' Bob". Make sure you're listening today around 2:50.

Paul

They have now canceled coming, as they had double booked. But at least it was on the radio today.

Paul, My friend wants to fly in for the opening on Saturday and would like to bring his Focke-Wulf Fw 149D. He did contact Bob regarding flying in but hasn't heard anything probably quite busy considering all that is happening this week! My friend wanted to know if he would be welcome to bring the FW down..?

Here's the latest on Saturday:

With our four birds will be two L29s, L39, Yak-52. There may also be a fly-by by CHAA.

There will be a flight simulator on site for you to practice in – courtesy AIR COMBAT ZONE. And one from CWH.

Presentations will be held in the briefing room on HISTORY OF T-BIRD and SPIN TESTING THE T-33.

Should be a really fun day.

And CT114, I'm still trying to get hold of Bob or Dave. They're very elusive today.

Paul
