Two from last Sunday morning, I was at the Southern end of Runway 33 (?), North of the Rail Crossing. I wish I had known about those Hornets sooner =/
Cheers,

Thanks a lot for your compliments, as I kid I always went to the LIAS from around 1979 through to the late 1990s. I used to borrow my Dad's 35mm SLR with telephoto lenses, and I always enjoy photographing aircraft, civilian or military. I'm heading next weekend to the Niagara show (Russell) and probably also the Flyfest in Hamilton, weather permitting.
On the subject of YXU, does anyone happen to know if there used to be a "cargo" Boeing 727 flying out of London usually around 22:30h (probably over 10 years ago)? At the time I lived near Sunningdale Road, and always heard that loud jet go over the house at night. Now that I think about it, I also recall seeing an Air Canada L1011 do some circuits around that same area probably 20 years ago, that was really cool.
In any case, if anyone has info on that 727, that would be great.
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
I remember the 727 you're talking about. I believe it was run by DHL. I live very near the airport, and used to hear it quite often, as it would often depart on 27, which would bring it almost directly overhead. I asked my wife if she remembered (not an aviation fan), and she does too. Don't recall an L1011, and I'm sure I'd remember that!
Paul
P.S. Welcome to these boards, and nice shots too. I also like to hang out on Creamery Rd (remember the good ol' days on arrival Thursday and Friday and departure Mondays). If you ever go there, and see someone walking a Golden Retriever...should be me.
I'm also planning on taking in either the CWH Flyfest or the Niagara show...depends on whether CWH gets their act in gear with their new chief mechanic. I'd hate to go there and find everything still grounded.

After speaking to one of my friends who grew up around the corner from me, the Air Canada TriStar was from around 1989. The two of us used to walk out into the cornfield behind Northcrest Drive and watch it as it did a lot of circling with the gear positioned down. I also remember one night when it was extremely windy, but clear, and incredibly dark. The jet was lower than I had seen it, and all of the cabin lights were on, you could clearly see the portals. I would guess that this was some type of training exercise, but who knows. I think my friend has some 35mm poor quality pics of it somewhere.
In any case, here is the SAAB 340 from today.

I was told that this L-39 Albatross is being used as a chase plane for the D-Jet that Diamond is building. If anyone out there knows anything else or has heard anything else I'm all ears.

Same update as on the other string...
Awesome update!
I'm really enjoying all of the updates. Having moved to Toronto temporary, you guys have to keep up the posts and pictures so I can see what's going on.
I'm going to do some posting on some of the stuff that happen to come across in YYZ when I get some breaks.
Not where yet....maybewe'll build another forum for Toronto visits for any of us.

Its not at YXU, but Lucan Field is close enough. By far the nicest Sprayer I have seen.
