I didn't want to steal the Windsor thread, and we're going to need a place for our photos anyways!

Mike, I haven't ever really made an effort for arrivals. I stay at the Double Tree, formerly Holiday Inn, downtown that overlooks the airport. Since we drive to the show Friday and I have three full days of airshow left, I watch arrivals and practices from the hotel parking garage which overlooks the whole area from about a mile away. It's worthless for pictures but is a really unique view.

I have heard stories of people being out on one of the piers near the rock and roll hall of fame during the Blue Angels and that would seem to be a great spot for arrivals if they let you out there. One of my friends has also mentioned a park of some sort at the other end of the runway that is decent for arrivals.

These (old and bad) pictures might help. The first is the parking garage view and shows some of the area, the second is the hall of fame and what looks to be a crowd out on the pier. Perhaps I'll have to walk down there this year!

Thanks for the info (and starting a proper post), looks tempting. I had told myself that there would be no more 'big' airshows this fall, but might make the exception.

Cleveland is great, it is a beautiful place for a show with the lake out front and downtown behind you. The lighting is perfect most of the day and the runway is as close as possible. I get a lot of my favorite pictures from Cleveland each year.
