Post subject: a proper spotters place...

Hi guys just wondering if there is a way to get to the LIAA members about making a proper place to watch planes come in on runway 33 because as i state runway 15 has really no place to watch them though pulling off robins hill road is kind of a threat to traffic...

I saw once a table that was placed right on the 1st curve of creamery road a few years ago with the grass cut low and nice and clean now the grass is 5 feet tall and there is no real place for a group of people to meet up at and spot.

In toronto however they have a well known road that cuts behind a runway for spotters to spend all day doing the same thing..

In calgary there's a place by runway 28 i believe that has a park bench and great place to hang out and watch planes all day..

Why london hasn't really got its head around the fact that anyone who calls themselves a spotter and hangs out there has to notice the now 5 foot corn and...and the pile of leafs sitting on the entrance to one of the gates is terrible..

What about cleaning it up and making it memorable even though there isn't too much airplane traffic. Police don't mind spotters out there. Maybe creating a little something that can be noticed by other spotters and told about to other people like "hey dude you gotta come see this spotters place at london international airport, its just breathtaking view"...whereas people come and dont say much or pass the fun they had watching airplanes come in.

Since im only going to fanshawe part time id love to cut the grass and make it look clean if i could but then maybe GLIAA wants it that way...im not sure....

anyways just something to leave your minds with...

Interesting ideas Darren, but I never figured we need to change anything. If people want to get together, they'll figure out a way to do it.....some cut grass and benches will not do much...in my opinion.

Well it could be a group like the one linked that would work with the airport on making sure there is proper spots for spotters. The idea of the linked group is very similar to one in Toronto. Mind you either way I probably wouldn't be a regular spotter at YXU due to distance.

You should start mowing the lawn yourself.. see if it catches on.
