Pretty quiet at YTR on the weekends normally, but the C-17 was up doing some pattern pounding on Saturday evening. The cold made for a beautiful winter sunset.

File comment: Short final.. there is a very creamery-esque road that I like to hang out on when the pattern is busy. With all the noisemakers hanging down (gear, flaps, landing lights, LAIRCM) it sounds like the world is about to end as she approaches.

File comment: My good buddy was at the helm, making it look easy.. Though it's tough to make this jet look bad.

File comment: C-17 over the fence.. I shoulda stood on the roof of my car for this one.

Awesome shots Andy!

I remember when I attended college at Loyalist in Belleville. I was on residence there for 2 years. Everytime I heard a Herc fly-over, I ran to my window to check it out!

I miss those days, especially now with the C-17s based at Trenton. It would have made some great spotting from the comfort of my rez! ;)

I did the same DPG at loyalist when i was there for 2 summers worth of air cadet flight training. Must say Andrew those shots look awesome. on a related note I was there in the end of Oct and took some shots of the base and stopped my car in much the same area as you and got a mean look and a wave off from what looked like base security. Do you know of them being any worse then that or if they would come out and get you if you sat and the end of the runway for the day?

Ahh, the only thing I know about loyalist is the loyalist girls at Matt and Joes... ohh how I miss London!

I'm surprised they gave you trouble at the fence, whenever the C-17 is up in the pattern in generally attracts a lot of paparazzi, and I've never seen the MPs coming anywhere close. In the summer I would hang out there for a few hrs at a time, and never saw a single security/MP. Even if they stopped by, I don't imagine they'd have any trouble with you staying so long as you presented ID etc..
