Visited this museum this past Wednesday and can say I like some of the changes. They have opened up the floor a bit so full airframe photos of some of my favourite aircraft are now possible. Down side is they have moved four aircraft including the Mosquito into the annex building where they are still viewable but very difficult to photograph as the annex building is jammed full and is where alot of the restorations take place. Anyhow, I thought I would post a few pics and will post more from this excellent museum over the next little while. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers, Jeff |

Nice shots Jeff. I agree that being able to fit the airframe in the shot is a big plus. unfortunate that it come at the price of other airframes though. They may have to look into a expansion or something. that or on nice days move the other airframes outside for viewing. |

Looks like it has opened up considerably since I was last there, which was about 3 years ago. At that time, only one building was opened, and it was jammed. In fact, some of the only opened building was closed off as well. Really a drag, because you could see the aircraft "over there" but couldn't get near them. Looking forward to some more pictures Jeff. Paul |

The annex building tour is available for an extra charge of $4.00 and is limited to 15 people at atime and runs maybe 3-4 times per day. I lucked out, there was only 5 on the tour I took. It is WELL worth the extra $. Sadly it lasts only 1 hour but there are some really neat aircraft in there. I asked if they ever thought about opening up the doors and moving a few aircraft outside for a "photo" day and was told there was no plan for this at this this. The only time you might see an aircraft outside is if they are moving aircraft back and forth between the two buildings. A world class museum and I would say is a must see for any aviation loving Canadian who might find themself in the Ottawa area. Lots of interactive stuff including three large flight sim stations, lots of one of a kind aircraft and a pretty descent store selling lots of aviation gear. Jeff |
