Thanks to Keith and all of the organizers & volunteers who dedicated time toward the WIAS 2009 show, I had a great day out today. It was a nice lineup of vintage Canadian aircraft, civilian aerobatics, and the showcasing of the Centennial Heritage Flight and Snowbirds. Access to the show (parking) was a lot less grief than Selfridge from the previous week, and the timing / pace of the show seemed consistent, as there were always planes in the air. The close flight line and obstruction free view was a real bonus as well (I was way out in left field)

Will post more tomorrow, and it would be nice to see others perspectives on the show and photos as well.

Best,

Joe

Here are a few more from yesterday, one of my favorite acts has to be Manfred Radius in the sailplane, reminds me a lot of the performances Oscar Boesch did at LIAS ages ago.

Have a good one,

Joe

Great photos as always Ryan. This is a nice site for posting, as there are a great bunch of photogs (the Ryans, Adrian, Mike and Bill to name a few)

Here are two more. Anyone from around here going to Cleveland? I will be there on Saturday and Sunday. A lot of my photos will be blurry on Saturday, as my hotel is within walking distance and I plan on swilling Bud lime :)

Thanks! I'll be there from Friday until Monday night. What hotel are you at? The DoubleTree is just the best. Feel free to come sit with us if you like, we'll have a big caution taped area to the left of the box seats in front of the RC planes.

For Cleveland, can you get anything decent of arrivals? Looking at Google it would seem that if they're coming in from the West that you'd have some great shots from that pier area (E 9th St)?

Never been to Cleveland myself, but starting to think about it now since the forecast looks good (touch wood).

Gyno, those look like great shots, especially the first two. My lens is too slow and lacks an AF limiter, so high speed passes are usually just a series of blurred shots.

Mike, I have never been down to Lakefront for arrivals, but I spent Sat and Sunday down there last year, and have never seen such great lighting. Maybe I just had exceptionally clear days, the flightline is close and angle of the sun is prime.

Ryan, I will definitely look for you guys, but I also tend to move around alot. Good thing the ushers in the box section do not mind me in the aisles.
