The other day I was looking up while waiting for something to show up at YXU, and decided to take pictures of things flying overhead.

Since I'm a proud owner of a AirNav RadarBox that I can take with me while spotting....I was able to get all the flight info with the picture.

Cool toy. Do you need a laptop with you then to make it go?

Wow, that is a very cool device! I'm horrible at identifying commercial planes from any altitude, but that would make such a difference. I'd like to know more about it, if you would care to share more info on it.

Some info on it is here
http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/index.html

You do have to have a laptop to connect it to....but no power cord. It gets all the power it need from the USB port.

When I was outside with it...I could catch as many as 120 planes flying in a radius of roughly 250nm....even military flights.

Could have gotten more overflights if it wasn't for the clouds...but here is one from Lufthansa.

This is awesome. Keep the pics coming! I wish I could've captured some cool planes like this at altitude back in the day.

Neat pics once again Mark! But I miss the airport info - was it not available for these two? I'm just nosy and wonder where they are from and where they are going!

The American Airlines was Chicago O'Hare Intl (KORD) to Boston Logan Intl (KBOS). (for some reason the flight number info was broadcasted wrong...should have been AA1016)

The United Airlines flight was Chicago O'Hare Intl (KORD) to Frankfurt Int'l (EDDF / FRA).
